In-service training statistics
The statistics derive from the Labour Force Surveys carried out by Statistics Finland. The statistics contain data on employees' participation in in-service training and training days received according to gender, age, basic education, occupation, socio-economic group, industry and size of the workplace.
In-service training here refers to such employer-sponsored training programmes which employees attend at full or reduced pay, or against full or partial compensation (in money or in time off) for lost free time.
Data on employees participating in in-service training and training days received have been collected since 1982. The data from 1995 to 2002 derive from the Labour Force Surveys carried out by Statistics Finland in accordance with the EU standards, while the data from 1982 to 1993 are based on earlier Statistics Finland Supplementary Labour Force Surveys.
In the last few years, 15,000 to 17,000 employees aged 15 to 64 have been interviewed for the survey and the response rate has been around 85 (4th quarter).
