According to Statistics Finland's data, participation in voluntary work has decreased from 2009. Participation in voluntary work had decreased among both men and women and in all age groups during the pandemic. Most voluntary work was done in housing company activities, neighbourhood associations and village committees. 60 % of the population aged 15 or over had helped another household free of charge or against a small compensation in the course of the past four weeks. Help most often concerned shopping and running errands. Households received considerably less help than 10 years ago.
