According to Statistics Finland, domestic extraction of natural resources grew by six per cent in 2022. The growth was strongest in metal ores and peat, both of which grew by 12 per cent compared with the previous year. Domestic material consumption, which takes imports and exports into account, also grew by five per cent from the year before. The strongest growth was seen in fossil energy materials, the consumption of which increased by nearly 18 per cent from the previous year.
