Volume of transport in domestic waterborne traffic decreased by 19 per cent in August 2024
According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, the total volume of goods transported in domestic waterborne traffic was 0.3 million tonnes in August 2024. Transport in domestic waterborne traffic decreased by 19 per cent compared to August 2023. In August 2024, domestic water transport took place almost only in coastal waterways.

Oil products were transported most in domestic waterborne traffic in August
Oil products were transported most, in total 181,399 million, which was 59 per cent of all transport. Timber was transported next most, 59,539 tonnes, making up 19 per cent of all transport. Preliminary data on timber transport are supplemented at the end of the statistical reference year.
