Volume of transport in domestic waterborne traffic decreased by 47 per cent in October 2024
According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, the total volume of goods transported in domestic waterborne traffic was 0.3 million tonnes in October 2024. Transport in domestic waterborne traffic decreased by 47 per cent compared to October 2023. In October 2024, domestic water transport took place almost only in coastal waterways.

Oil products were transported most in domestic waterborne traffic in October
Oil products were transported most, in total 174,146 tonnes, which was 66 per cent of all transport. Timber was transported next most, 33,302 tonnes, making up 13 per cent of all transport. Preliminary data on timber transport are supplemented at the end of the statistical reference year.
