Real estate maintenance costs rose by 0.1 per cent in July to September 2024
According to Statistics Finland, real estate maintenance costs rose by 0.1 per cent in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the corresponding period of 2023. Of the cost items of real estate maintenance, the costs of waste management grew most, by 3.3 per cent. The costs of electricity fell by 13.3 per cent.

Costs of residential buildings rose most
The maintenance costs of residential blocks of flats rose by 1.5 per cent and those of day care centres by 0.2 per cent in the third quarter of 2024. Compared to one year ago, the costs of industrial buildings went down by 2.6 per cent, those of office buildings by 0.7 per cent and those of wholesale and retail trade buildings by 0.9 per cent. The costs of health care centres and school buildings remained unchanged.
The total index of real estate maintenance decreased by 1.1 per cent from the previous quarter.
Real estate tax and plot rent are not included in the index of real estate maintenance costs 2021=100.
