release | Production of electricity and heat 2023Correction
The release of the statistics on production of electricity and heat was corrected.
Read more about the correctionAccording to Statistics Finland, the production of electricity in Finland amounted to 78,3 TWh in 2023, which was 13 per cent more than in the year before. Over one-half, or 52 per cent, of Finland's electricity production was produced with renewable energy sources. The production of district heat grew by under one per cent and that of industrial heat fell by five per cent from the previous year.

Key selections
- Over one half of Finland’s electricity (52 %) was produced with renewable energy sources.
- Electricity produced with nuclear power rose by 35 per cent and thus the share of zero-emission electricity in domestic production rose to 94 per cent.
- As much as 83 per cent more electricity was produced with solar power and 25 per cent more with wind power than in the year before.
- The production of district heat rose by under one per cent in 2023 compared to the previous year.
- In the production of district heat, the combustion of fuels decreases and other forms of production, such as flue gas scrubbers, heat pumps and electric boilers, become more common.
