Prices of domestic fuels rose in the second quarter of 2024

According to Statistics Finland, the electricity prices for household customers and the consumer prices of petrol and diesel decreased in the second quarter of 2024. The prices of domestic wood pellets, forest chippings and milled peat, in turn, went up in the second quarter.

Key selections

  • The consumer prices of motor gasoline and diesel oil decreased by four per cent in July 2024 compared to the corresponding period one year earlier. Correspondingly, the price of light fuel oil rose by four per cent.
  • The price of natural gas in June 2024 went up from the level in April for all consumer types. Compared to one year earlier, the price in June was lower or more or less on the same level depending on consumer type.
  • The consumer price of wood pellets rose by 12 per cent in May 2024 compared to one year earlier.
  • In June 2024, the total price of electricity for household customers went down by 8 to 12 per cent compared to one year earlier. Correspondingly, the total price for enterprise and corporate customers decreased by 5 to 17 per cent for all but one consumer group, for which the total price rose by one per cent.
  • The taxable price of milled peat rose by seven per cent in the second quarter of 2024 and the price of forest chippings by 18 per cent compared to the corresponding period of 2023.
