Turnover in service industries grew by 3.1 per cent in August 2024

Turnover growing in service industries

In service industries, growth was strongest in August 2024 in professional, scientific and technical activities, where turnover went up by 7.6 per cent and volume by 2.9 per cent from August 2023. The working day adjusted turnover of information and communication activities was 4.2 per cent higher than in August 2023. Over the same period, a good rise of 3.3 per cent was recorded for the volume of the industry. In August 2024, working day adjusted turnover in real estate activities grew by 3.9 per cent and volume by 0.9 per cent from August 2023.

In other main service industries, development was more subdued than average in service industries. The working day adjusted turnover of transportation and storage rose by 2.4 per cent in August 2024, while the volume of the industry remained on level with August 2023. The working day adjusted turnover of other service activities went up by 0.6 per cent in August 2024.

In August 2024, working day adjusted turnover in administrative and support service activities went down by 0.3 per cent and volume by 2.3 per cent from August 2023. In the industry of arts, entertainment and recreation, the fall in working day adjusted turnover settled at 0.8 per cent from August 2023. In August 2024, the development was weakest in accommodation and food service activities, where turnover fell by 0.9 per cent and volume by 4.0 per cent from August 2023.

Turnover and output grew from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in service industries rose by 0.7 per cent in August 2024 compared to July. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, rose by 0.3 per cent over the same period. In July 2024, turnover fell by 0.7 per cent and volume by 0.3 per cent from June 2024.
