Road traffic accidents claimed 12 lives in December 2024
According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 201 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in December 2024. In them, 12 persons were killed and 288 persons injured. The number of fatalities was five lower and number of persons injured seven higher than in December 2023. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to December
According to preliminary data, there were a total of 2,776 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to December period of 2024. In them, 171 persons were killed and 3,437 persons injured. The number of deaths was 14 lower and the number of persons injured 205 lower than in the corresponding period of 2023. Of the persons who were killed, 85 travelled by passenger car, nine by van, five by moped, 16 by motorcycle and three by lorry. 19 pedestrians and three riders of light electric vehicles were killed. 15 cyclists on a traditional bicycle and one cyclist on an electric bicycle were killed. In addition, 15 other road users were killed.
