According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) decreased by 2.8 per cent in January 2025 from January 2024.

Turnover grew most in the electronic and electrical industry

Turnover adjusted for working days grew most in January in the electronic and electrical industry, by 39.6 per cent from the year before. Turnover in mining and quarrying was 24.1 per cent higher than one year earlier. Turnover in the metal industry went up by 16.1 per cent and in the food industry by 4.9 per cent from one year ago. Turnover decreased most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 27.3 per cent from one year back. Turnover in the chemical industry was 14.2 per cent lower and turnover in the forest industry 4.1 per cent lower than in the previous year.

Export turnover grew in nearly all main industries

Export turnover grew in nearly all main industries in January. Export turnover grew most in the electronic and electrical industry (40.7%) and in mining and quarrying (33.9%). Export turnover in the metal industry was 18.1 per cent higher and in the forest industry 4.0 per cent higher than one year earlier. Among the main industries, export turnover declined only in the chemical industry, by 19.1 per cent year-on-year.

Domestic turnover grew most in January in the electronic and electrical industry, by 22.5 per cent from one year ago. Domestic turnover in mining and quarrying was 18.3 per cent higher than one year earlier. Domestic turnover in the metal industry increased by 4.0 per cent. Domestic turnover decreased most in the forest industry, by 20.3 per cent from one year ago.

Turnover decreased in January slightly from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry decreased by 0.1 per cent in January 2025 compared to December 2024. Turnover grew by 1.4 per cent in January and turnover decreased by 0.7 per cent in November from the month before.
