Environmental subsidies grew in 2023 as the support level of energy supply normalises

According to Statistics Finland, environmental subsidies paid by the public sector amounted to EUR 700 million in 2023, which was EUR 222 million more than in the previous year. Most of the growth came from energy supply, where the production subsidies for renewable energy returned to the level where they were before the significant drop in the year before.
