Costs of civil engineering remained unchanged in December 2024 year-on-year

According to Statistics Finland, the costs of civil engineering remained unchanged in December 2024 compared with the previous year’s corresponding period. The annual change in costs varied by sub-index from 1.8 per cent for concrete structures to -1.6 per cent for technical and other systems.

  • Examined by cost factor in December 2024, the biggest cost increase from one year ago occurred in the costs of purchased machine services, 3.0 per cent.
  • Examined by cost factor, costs fell the most in a year in the cost of own machinery, 5.7 per cent.
  • Examined by cost factor in materials, costs decreased most per year in bitumens and plastic products, 3.3 per cent. The cost of timber increased the most, 10.7 per cent.
  • The total index rose by 0.1 per cent from the month before.
