Release of the statistics on families was corrected
Date of correction:Release: families 2021, 30.9.2022
Description of the correction
The number and change of reconstituted families of opposite-sex couples have been corrected in the last paragraph of the release text: “At the end of 2021, there were 49,622 reconstituted families (previously 49,630). The number of reconstituted families fell by 560 families (previously 555 families) from the previous year and was under 50,000 for the first time since 2003.” This part of the text was only in Finnish.
There is also a similar error in the release text of the statistics on families describing the year 2020. The correct data for 2020 are: "At the end of 2020, there were 50,182 reconstituted families. The number of reconstituted families went down by 425 from the previous year." Appendix table 4 of the statistical release for 2020 also contains minor errors on the last row. The correct figures are given in the table below (changes indicated in bold).
