Wages and salaries sum grew by 1.2 per cent year-on-year in Oktober to December
According to Statistics Finland, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 1.2 per cent greater in the past Oktober to December period than in the corresponding period twelve months earlier. In December alone, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy grew by 1.2 per cent year-on-year. In the Oktober to December period one year ago, the wages and salaries sum grew by 2.0 per cent.

The wages and salaries sum grew in the September to November period in almost all main industries. The growth was fastest in the private health and social work (5.1%). By contrast, the wages and salaries sum fell in the private educational services sector (-0.1%), financial intermediation (-0.9%) and manufacturing (-1.4%).
The wage and salary sum data of the private sector (Classification of Sectors 2012: 11102-3) are added to the wage and salary indices release starting from the data concerning January 2014. Data will be released for the first time on 14 March 2014.
The wages and salaries sum refers to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees without incentive stock options. The wages and salaries sum is influenced by changes in employment and in the earnings level of wage and salary earners.
