In February 2010, building permits were granted for a total of 2.5 million cubic metres, which is 15 per cent more than one year ago. This is indicated by Statistics Finland’s preliminary data on building and dwelling production.

By contrast, the cubic volume covered by building permits for commercial and office buildings decreased by about 30 per cent from twelve months back.

In February 2010, building permits were granted for 2,400 new dwellings, which is twice as many as one year earlier. The number of permits granted for residential blocks of flats also doubled, while that of permits for attached houses quadrupled from February 2009.
