Corona situation report: Accelerations to statistics production and new data to explain the coronavirus situation available
Statistics Finland aims to accelerate the release schedule of statistics important from the viewpoint of emergency conditions and to publish information supplementing normal statistics production in the form needed by users.
The first statistics to be published on an accelerated schedule are the accommodation statistics to be released this week, which describe the supply and use of accommodation services and contain information on the users of services and the number of overnight stays. A flash estimate of monthly appearing accommodation statistics will be published on Thursday 9 April. The preliminarily released statistics describe the situation in March and the published data content is less extensive than usual. The data of the statistics will be published according to the original schedule on 29 April.
The effects of emergency conditions on enterprises have interested users of statistics in social debate. We have collected data on small enterprises and sole entrepreneurs classified according to the present data need. The Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY centres) offer support in the exceptional situation to enterprises employing one to five persons and the table contains data divided according to this need. Data are also collected in a table on sole entrepreneurs (tables in Finnish).
As a new set of data we opened this week a database cube containing more regional statistical data. The now opened database cube contains basic data on the population, population changes, migration, employment, educational structure of the population, housing and municipalities’ economy. New data include economic dependency ratio, the population’s average age and unemployment risk by sex.
Statistical data related to the corona situation and articles explaining it can in future be found collected on the corona pages (in Finnish) of Statistics Finland's web pages.
With our weekly news we provide information on the effects of the corona situation on statistics production. Despite the exceptional conditions, Statistics Finland's normal statistics production has continued according to plans.
