Finns know Statistics Finland well but want more information about its activity
According to an interview survey made by Taloustutkimus, 87 per cent of Finns know Statistics Finland. Of the government organisations included in the survey, Statistics Finland is the second best known.
In particular, the reliability and impartiality of the data have remained among Statistics Finland's strengths: 82 per cent of Finns trust the statistics produced by Statistics Finland. Altogether 76 per cent of the respondents found Statistics Finland's data useful and 70 per cent felt that the data describe important matters.
However, a larger share of the respondents hope that Statistics Finland would communicate more about its activity than at present. “In many answers it was requested that in addition to statistical data, Statistics Finland would communicate about its activity and its functions more generally, for example, on its web pages and in social media,” says Satu Elho, Development Manager.
“We are trying to bring up ways of using statistics and our data supply more diversely. We also encourage our experts and directors to communicate more about Statistics Finland's activity,” says Elho.
The survey was conducted in Taloustutkimus Oy's Internet panel in October and its aim was to examine Statistics Finland's corporate image in the minds of citizens. The target group of the survey comprised consumers aged 15 to 79 living in Mainland Finland. There were good 1,000 respondents.
