Number of accidents at work grew by 2.2 per cent in 2022

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Finland, the number of occupational accidents grew in 2022 from the previous year. A total of 121,400 accidents at work occurred in 2022. This was 2.2 per cent more than in the year before.

  • There were 2,600 more accidents at work in 2022 than in the year before.
  • Wage and salary earners had 2.8 per cent more accidents at work and self-employed 4.0 per cent less.
  • Farmers' accidents at work decreased by 6.6 per cent.
  • There were in total 8 more fatal accidents in 2022 than in the year before.
  • Wage and salary earners had 20.5 per cent more commuting accidents and 0.8 per cent less workplace accidents in 2022 than in the year before.
